Off season paid off once again. Even though the last part of the highway was closed due to a landslide, we drove as far as we could, spent the night at a viewpoint parking and went to bed with foggy, rainy weather.
The next morning, sunshine and a view of Mount St. Helens for the first time.
On a trailhead parking, a local lady gave us superb info on where to walk to get an even better view, so we took the 8 mile hike on the Boundary Trail. Only a few people around, a steady but doable climb, views getting better and better, pleasant wheather and temperatures ... we ended up at a great observation point.
