It seems as if i keep repeating myself, but this destination has been on the bucket list for a while now... it always seemed too far, too expensive and not the right time.
But as we are going big again this year, with a total travel time of 10 weeks just in this trip, it fit into the plan.
Flight time Frankfurt-Buenos Aires: 13 hours and 40 minutes. After one night in Ezeiza, we took an early morning flight of 2:40 hours to El Calafate, Patagonia...rental car, grocery shopping and a 2.5 hour car ride to El Chalten.
Weather in Buenos Aires: 25-28 °C, pleasant wind, thunderstorm at night. Weather in Calafate at 8 am: temps at freezing level but sunny with all sorts of clouds to emphasize the picturesque landscape.
In El Chalten, after a stormy, rainy night, the bad weather continued half the day giving us time to rest and chill. In the afternoon, we filled up the car (half tank 23 Euros), walked to a waterfall and explored the surroundings of the town.
