Pico

Day 1:
• Take the ferry from Horta to Madalena. This time in a real boat 😄
• Chill at our accommodation, watching Canal Hollywood Portugal, where they show one movie after another.
• Drive to Lajes to have dinner at the harbour and go for a walk

Day 2:
• Explore the southeast of the island, walking through a landscape of basalt rocks next to a crystal clear, turquoise ocean
Day 3:
• Explore the northeast and parts of the highland...stormy, foggy weather today
Day 4:
• Try our luck to get a glimpse of the Pico mountain again...no success due to all the clouds, fog and rain
• Visit the Wine Museum
• Walk through the typical vineyards
Day 5:
• Finally good weather in the highland and Mount Pico is showing
• Ending the day with a tuna steak at the harbour with a nice sunset for desert
Day 6:
• Wave watching. Swimming in the natural ocean pools today is not recommended.
• Eating Pastel de Nata and feeding a hungry cat with 'Maria' cookies
• Take the ferry to São Jorge Island. We knew it would be an exciting ride having watched the restless ocean today. And yes, it felt like a roller coaster ride 🙈. But look at these travel companions, distracting us from the high swell:
What a joy to watch dolphins jump. When I saw them, I was so surprised that I instinctively squeaked like a little girl 😃.
